Ten French sentences to preach the gospel
Ten sentences in French, following the order Billy Graham used to present the gospel.
Billy Graham did not invent the gospel. He put it in an order a crowd could follow. God loves. We have sinned. Christ died and rose. A person must receive him. The decision is today. That order is not magic. It is a clear path through the news so that a hearer does not get lost. These ten French sentences follow that order. They are short enough to learn, and plain enough to say to a neighbor. The work of this house is to teach French through Scripture, so that the gospel can be spoken clearly in a language that is living. 1. Dieu t’aime. God loves you. This is the door, not a soft opening. “Car Dieu a tant aimé le monde.” Love is the reason the news is good. Without it, the rest is only accusation. 2. Dieu a un dessein pour ta vie. God has a purpose for your life. The gospel is not only rescue from guilt. It is a calling. God is not finished with the person who is listening. 3. Tous ont péché. All have sinned. No exception is hiding in the room. “Tous ont péché et sont privés de la gloire de Dieu.” The sentence is short because the fact is universal. 4. Le péché nous sépare de Dieu. Sin separates us from God. The problem is not only behavior. It is a broken relation. Distance is the result. Death is the end of that distance if it is not closed. 5. Nous ne pouvons pas nous sauver nous-mêmes. We cannot save ourselves. Effort, shame, and religion do not close the gap. The sentence removes the false hope that a person can climb back alone. 6. Jésus-Christ est mort pour nos péchés. Jesus Christ died for our sins. The cross is the provision, not a symbol we admire. God did not leave the gap open. He closed it in his Son. 7. Jésus est ressuscité. Jesus is risen. The gospel is not a tragedy with a moral. The Lord is alive. The resurrection is the proof that the death was not a defeat. 8. Il est le seul chemin vers le Père. He is the only way to the Father. Kindness does not replace this sentence. Other ways may be sincere. They are not the way Jesus named. 9. Il faut se repentir et croire. A person must repent and believe. Turn, and trust. Both. Repentance is the turn away from sin. Faith is the trust in the one who died and rose. 10. Aujourd’hui, tu peux le recevoir. Today, you can receive him. The invitation is not for a later mood. The sentence keeps the decision in the present. Tomorrow is not promised as a better day for this. Say them slowly. A learner of French hears the language. A hearer of the gospel hears the news. That is the work of this house: teaching French through Scripture, so that the gospel can be spoken clearly. The sentences are tools. They are not the power. The Spirit uses plain words.
